Duncan qualified as a Chartered Accountant with an international consulting firm in 2000, and held a number of finance director roles in the years that followed.

However he felt the accountancy industry didn’t serve it’s clients well,

and in 2017, decided to use his FD experience to build an accountancy firm to

really help clients – to help them make more money, not just to do the year end accounts.

 Then, in 2019, a client recommended the book, Profit First.

Having read it, Duncan was hooked, and realised he wasn’t serving his clients as well as he could.

Profit First focused on cash, and the entrepreneurs natural

instinct to monitor cash, rather than P&Ls, balance sheets, and cashflow statements and he could see how it could help his customers.

So he contact Profit First Professionals in America, and after a few months, was Profit First certified.

It was so effective, that Duncan applied the principles in his own firm and even to his family.

With such compelling evidence of it’s effectiveness, Duncan flew to New York to meet Mike Michalowicz, and ask him for the rights to the UK licence.

There were already licences in:

USA

Canada

Australia

New Zealand,

Austria,

Germany,

Netherlands,

Israel,

But the UK was missing out.

 Now, after some negotiation, and cycling around New Jersey with Mike Michalowicz

(the hills aren’t as challenging as Yorkshire…) Duncan now co-owns Profit First Professionals UK, and helps other accountancy firms, book-keepers, and coaches, to deliver Profit First to all their clients.

He does this whilst also running Profit Genie Group,

a UK accountancy firm which has honed and refined the Profit First

system to work perfectly in the UK.

Even for a self-confessed introvert, Duncan likes to speak

to anyone and everyone he can about Profit First, and to share top tips on how

to drive the systems benefits.

virtues of Profit First, even if he hasn’t been invited to!
